For All Who Struggle with Self Acceptance

The other day I went to put on one of my only pair of jeans, ones I hadn’t worn since I moved. A dismayed and frustrated feeling engulfed me as I realized they didnt want to fit and only after rsome determined effort did they finally cooperate,(that is if you consider shrink wrap a good fit.)

Easy to say, this took a blow off of my self esteem, it was just a wake up call, saying ‘Hey, you put on a little weight.’ It wasn’t a surprise (the stress of moving, living in a new house, and trying to spend less on food.) But my mind tried to turn it into the ‘end of the world’.

I imediately went into the cycle of mentally berating myself. After some time of this however, I knew this needed to stop. I had to realize that a few pounds doesn’t transform anyone into a ugly toad. Somehow I needed to take a middle stance. We need to first accept who we are regardless of numbers, scars, or reflection. Then from a place of love work to improve.

So today I want to tell you the truth; you , my friend, are beautiful and loved. We all have flaws, so work to change your lifestyle and body, not out of hate but out of love.

Rememeber our bodies are a temple for the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 3:16) Like any faithful worker we should strive to improve not only for health but out of love for our King.

1 Corinthians 6:20

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
