I am so glad you joined me for this post, in fact I am pretty excited about it! this week I finished off my Victorian underthings. I used a pattern from Truly Victorian (pattern number TV102) It is for a chemise and drawers. I also took a online sewing class by Jenifer Rosbrugh you can find all of her amazing classes with this link https://classes.historicalsewing.com/courses or just search ‘The Historical Sewing School’. I highly recommend these classes and they really helped me gain some confidence back. The videos are very easy to follow and she replies to any questions very quickly.
I got the cap tutorial here ( http://www.sewhistorically.com/how-to-sew-an-authentic-mid-victorian-day-cap-tutorial/ ) again that was an awesome resource and my first successful cap (without a pattern too!) I did sew it by machine instead of the different handstitches but….
Anyway let us get to the photos…..enjoy….
A noise, a rustle, a cry through the night. It pierced through the old house’s wall and she heard it. Her blood went cold and a shiver snaked down her spine…. sleep had vanished from her mind. She threw off her quilts and stepped onto the cold floor. She reached for the lantern and fumbling with the match touched the flame to the kerosene wick. Then padded softly to the door and opened the latch, with a creek it closed behind her. It wasn’t only only the night chill that made her shiver.
Well, do you like the outfit? Does it give you an old fashioned feel?
What do you think is ‘out there’ in the night? A panther? A wounded soldier? I would love to hear all of your ideas.

Great job with these Mindy! I really enjoyed this post, but couldn’t help laughing imagining how scandalized Victorian era folk would be by it including pictures.

Hahah, yes, it may have created a shock ~I can just see the gossipy neighbors with their hands to their mouths in horror~ (however I did wear modern undergarments, as well, to keep it all on the up and up…. for modern standards at least lol)

That looks fantastic!
I love the ‘flowiness’ of it. But I take it, it’s supposed to go under the dress. But it’s really cool. I especially love the lantern!

Yes, it is very flowy, and literally, in the summer would be very ‘cool’ pun intended. 😉
I borrowed my parents antique lantern they had hanging on the wall, I have to agree it really adds the final touch!

Woah, that is SO cool! You look really stunning in some of those pictures where your hair is slipping out of the bonnet. And yes, that lantern adds such an awesome touch, too! Well done, I loved it this post!

I was trying to get the mussed, just woke up look, I’m happy it turned out.
I should probably do a few more posts like this, it was not only fun (and super chilly) but it seems to be a success.
