I hope you all enjoy this vintage inspired outfit and the phenomenal pictures taken by my cousin Heidi (if you like her style and want to see more then please check out her blog https://joyfulphotography.photo.blog/ Where you will find whole posts of awesome photos!) however, I also want to share with you all a sad falter I made not long ago. I am sharing with you in hopes of preventing you to do the same.

Something about wearing a very simple headcover is the fact that it doesn’t really stand out and people don’t notice it as much. But when you wear something like this vintage turban everyone notices and so was the case last week.

I was being picked up for my part time job of weeding a garden and the fellow who picked me had the funniest reaction to my turban.( It was yellow and tied the same way just with no curly hair.) Anyway, he said I looked like a ‘skinny Aunt Jemima’ which I thought was pretty funny.

However, as we were driving, he asked why exactly I was wearing it. It was a wonderful opportunity to talk about Christ and it should have spurred on a great conversation but, fear suddenly reared it’s ugly head and I fumbled “I love vintage things.” It was the first thing that came into my scared mind and I blurted it out and stuck to it. Although it was true, it wasn’t why I was wearing a head covering.

I was just like Peter who denied his Lord and simply said the first thing that popped into his head. I could have used that opportunity to talk about Jesus but instead I spoke about myself and let fear win.

So, I just wanted to be raw and truthful with you guys, maybe my mistake can encourage you to not do the same. WE can’t change the past and on opportunity wasted is gone forever. So be bold in Jesus and crush fear beneath the heel of faith. And for those who have faltered as I did and are feeling the shame of their choice, take heart in the fact that Jesus not only forgave Peter’s denial but also chose Peter to be the one of the head leaders of the early church.

and let us keep in mind the words that the Lord spoke though that same faltering disciple;
1 Peter 3:15 ” But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

So although we may sadden and disappoint our Jesus He still loves us. We serve a Lord who will love us no matter what and, nothing and I mean nothing can separate us from that love:
Romans 8:38-39 ” For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

So my friend, we are forgiven and free. Let us learn from our mistake and not repeat them. And let us use every opportunity to share Jesus with others. Not out of the lie that if we don’t He want forgive us but, out of the love we bare for him and others. (Dressing uniquely is just one of the ways you could start a conversation about Jesus) No matter where His will leads you His presence will fill you with a joy that cannot die, With a freedom that only His followers know, and with a liberty to be who He created us to be no matter how ‘unique’ that is.

Let me know how you like the photos and if you have dealt with a similar situation.
P.S. My first Tie Tie Again tutorial will be about the vintage turban I am wearing here.
