Making a sewing machine cover

Okay, so here is an easy tutorial on how to make yourself a simple but adorable sewing machine cover.

  1. First measure your machine; my measurements were;
  • -top; 15″ by 5″
  • -broad side; 15″ by 12″
  • -narrow side 12″ by 5″ at top and 12″ by 7″ at base

Add an inch unto your measurements to make up for a 1/2 inch hem. If you are using trim measure that and then subtract it from your original measurements.

2. Now cut out your pieces

3. pin on your trim

4. Sew it on

5. Sew the pieces together with a 1/2 inch hem, (remember that when you are sewing the material should be inside out.

Now, its time to your project right side out and try it on your machine!

-Afterthoughts, I am pretty happy how it turned out, the fit was loose and lovely, but I did goof up on a corner so it sits a little funny on one side;

But besides that I feel like it was a success and definitely is an improvement from my other one. (a cracked plastic cover that was probably older then me😋)

I hope this inspires you to make your sewing machine a new outfit! If you do let me know what print you used and any alterations you made! Also if you like these kinds of posts or if you have a question let me know in the comments below!
